Overview

The Salkantay Trek is a popular multi-day hike in the Peruvian Andes that takes you through the breathtaking landscape of the Cordillera de Vilcabamba mountain range. It typically takes 4 days to complete the trek, though there are also longer and shorter options available. The trek starts at the small village of Mollepata, located about 3 hours from the city of Cusco, and ends at the ancient Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. Along the way, hikers will pass through a variety of landscapes, including forests, mountains, and grasslands, and will have the opportunity to see a wide range of flora and fauna, as well as stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The trek is physically demanding, and hikers should be in good physical condition and properly equipped for the high altitude and variable weather conditions.
