Overview

The Q’ero community is located at around 4500 meters above sea level, hidden in the Andean mountain range, safeguarding and maintaining it’s ancestral culture and traditions and coexisting in a close and harmonious relationship with nature.

It is an energetic, magical and mysterious place where the Q’ero people take care of their natural deities and where their spiritual guides (Q’ero Priests and Priestesses called P’aqos and Ñustas) remind us their way of seeing, living and feeling the world according to their the Andean traditions.

By travelling along this circuit, filled with the ancestral knowledge and living culture of Q’eros, travelers will have the privilege of being treated as special guests and will be able to share a unique and different experience by getting involved with their traditions, culture, gastronomy and livestock.

We will walk along the path of the Q’eros and, guided by the wisdom of their spiritual masters, we will embark on a journey of self-discovery and be able to experience the energetic power of the  protective Apus (mountains), the Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the natural element Spirits that give life in this material world.

The different ceremonies and teachings are aimed so that we can all establish profound and thoughtful links with nature and are intended to develop self-growth and spiritual and emotional balance.

Itinerary

DAY1-CUSCO – NICAMARCA – PAUCARTAMBO – CHALLMACHIMPANA (Q’EROS)

We will be departing from Cusco at 6:00 am to the destination of Hatun Q’eros (known as the last Inca ayllu). During the tour we will behold the scenic beauty of the Andean Mountains. We will firstly visit the archaeological park of Ninamarca and then we will continue to the Paucartambo folk village.

There we will have lunch and we will be able to observe the Carlos III bridge and the traditional colonial town; we will then continue our trip to Challmachimpana-Q´eros arriving at approximately 13:00 hours. In the afternoon we will have a conversation about the various ceremonies that will be held during our trip and the Q’ero priest  will perform the first one as a welcome.

DAY 2: CHALLMACHIMPANA – HATUN Q’ERO

After breakfast, at around 7:30 am, we will begin our walk of approximately 5 hours along the traditional Q’ero trail, taking our time to take photos and appreciate nature walking among the mountains with a climate that may vary from cold to warm.

Once we arrive at Hatun Q’ero we will rest and have typical Q’ero lunch. Then we will perform the corresponding ceremony and at night, after dinner, we will share around the campfire at the place where we will spend our second night.

DAY 3: HATUN Q’ERO- HUAMANLIPA

After breakfast we will depart at approximately 8:00 am and leave the warm weather to head towards the highest mountain in Q’ero, Huamanlipa (5800 m.a.s.l.). In a 4 hour hike we will ascend to the town of Qochamocco where we will have lunch and spend our third night. At 15:00 we will perform our ceremony; clearing our minds, breathing the fresh air and perceiving the sounds and energies of animals and nature.
