Overview

The Humantay lagoon is one of the most beautiful attractions that you will be able to appreciate, presenting an impressive turquoise lagoon next to the Humantay mountain (5334 meters above see level). This lagoon is of glacial and natural origin.

The humantay lagoon is located 124 km northeast of the city of Cusco, district of Mollepata and province of Anta, with a beautiful landscape full of agriculture, flora, and fauna.

The Salkantay mountain considered one of the sacred mountains in the Vilcabamba mountain range since time immemorial for the city of Cusco.

Itinerary

Humantay Lake Full Day

In the morning at 4 am we will pick you up from your hotel to start our 2 hour and 30-minute trip to the town of Mollepata, where we will enjoy a delicious breakfast. Then we will continue our 30-minute trip to Soraypampa (3850 meters above sea level) the place to start our uphill walk of approximately 2 hours until we reach the turquoise Humantay Lagoon, our guide will explain about this beautiful place. Then we will go to a sacred place to perform the (CEREMONY) to thank  the Humantay and Salkantay mountains and you will have free time to take the best photos and take them as souvenirs. Then we will return to Soraypampa and Mollepata to enjoy our lunch in a tourist restaurant. Finally, we will be back to our city of Cusco. Arriving approximately 5 hrs in the afternoon.

Included

Pre-departure briefing: The night before your trip you will be visited by your guide and group at your hotel for an orientation before your trip. Any items you might need while hiking should be packed in your backpack.

Transportation: You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning at the starting point of the trek, and once you have completed the trek, you will be taken directly back to your hotel in Cusco for drop off.

Professional guide: Your guide will explain the whole route, even leading your group in ancient ceremonies! He or she will keep you healthy and make sure you are safe and happy. He speaks Quechua, Spanish and English.

Andean priest: our specialty for the group is an Andean teacher, shaman who will help you connect with nature and with yourself through the ceremony to the APUS (sacred mountains) and PACHAMAMA (Mother Earth).

Food: breakfast and lunch in Mollepata.

Income: Entrance ticket for Turquoise Lagoon.

First aid: all guides receive training in first aid from a doctor that we have in the city of Cusco, if the tour guide will always have a first aid kit for basic medical situations and essential oxygen, if necessary, we will use it in a faster and comfortable way.

No Included

Travel insurance: It is not mandatory, but it is recommended, for those who live at sea level, adapting to Cusco will take a while. Most people need 1-2 days to adjust.

water and snacks: does not include extra food. On the way we will meet children and residents can be invited.

Rentals: Walking sticks are optional, but recommended. If you don’t want to bring any, they are all available for rent.

Before traveling

  • A light backpack with a change of clothes for the entire tour period – be prepared for a wide range of temperature changes.
  • Rain gear (jacket and pants if available) or a rain poncho. Plastic ponchos can be purchased in Cusco for approximately $1.
  • Warm clothing, including jacket, fleece liners, gloves, scarf and hat. Thermal clothing is also recommended.
  • Camera, film and batteries (batteries are consumed more quickly under cold conditions).
  • Hat or cap to protect from sun, rain and cold.
  • Sun block
  • After-sun cream or moisturizer for face and body.
  • Toilet paper, inside and outside the luggage.
  • Snacks: cookies, energy bars, chocolates, fruit, granola, etc.
  • Non-disposable water bottle (Nalgene type) and water for the first morning.

Location of the Humantay Lagoon
